Sewer Gas Leak St. Petersburg, FL | PVC Vent

During a smoke test in St Petersburg Florida today we noticed a tiny amount of smoke coming from the improper tie in shown on the PVC vent.  Tampa Bay Plumbers sees this type of stuff all the time.  Be cautious of some of the water softener companies out there!  You cannot terminate a softener drain by simply drilling a hole in a vent pipe and sticking the drain line in and caulking the hole.  You can be assured you will have sewer gasses and leaks at those locations.  Florida Plumbing code requires an indirect waste outlet be installed for these type of drains.  The floor drain or floor sink has the p-trap in place so sewer gasses won’t escape in the house.  Tampa Bay Plumbers has the best equipment for detecting sewer gas.  For more information on sewer gasses please visit Wikipedia!
