Tampa Bay Plumbers responded to a water main break at an apartment complex in Tampa yesterday. We found a 2 inch PVC pipe that was broken about 3 feet under ground and was gushing water and sand out of the hole. The break occurred at night and began leaking hours before it was discovered in the morning. Sand had poured and washed out a large area near the break. Water main breaks are a common problem for any infrastructure of this age. Tampa Bay Plumbers uses a hydro-excavation technique to expose water mains. We do this to avoid damaging surrounding utilities and infrastructure. Using hydro excavation also limits water main pollution by eliminating the need to shut down water until the leak is exposed or nearly exposed.
