This is a picture of a water line that needs to be replaced in Tampa at the University of Tampa. UT has some of the finest facilities in the county, and that is because they work tirelessly to replace and upgrade their infrastructure. This particular water line developed a leak on the galvanized pipe and instead of repairing just the bad spot, they opted to replace the entire water service so that way this type of leak does not happen again. Water lines need to be upgraded every 20-40 years depending on the usage and material. In some cases we have seen water lines last almost 100 years in Tampa, but those are few and far between. Water line replacements can generally be performed for under $10 per foot, unless concrete or asphalt has to be removed and patched.
